Carol Elaine Hausenfluck Wilhide died on Friday, February 29, 2008 at her home in Morristown, NJ after a courageous 12-year battle with cancer. She was 74.
Born in Savage, MD., she lived in Maryland and New Providence, NJ for more than 20 years before moving to Morristown, in 1984. Mrs. Wilhide was a homemaker during her children's early years and then had an 18 year career at AT&T where she was a HR manager before retiring in 1998.
She was an avid bridge players in the New Providence Bridge Club for 30 years, and also belonged to the Gourmet Group of New Providence. She also was a member of the Johns Hopkins Club in Baltimore Md. and the Lockwood Folly Country Club near Myrtle Beach.
She enjoyed world travel, sailing, and taking cruises.In December 2006, she took a southern Caribbean cruise with 16 family members including nine of her grandchildren that included a return stop in St. Thomas (1958 honeymoon destination). Her favorite trips included Egypt, Turkey, Cape Horn, and Korea, as well as her around the world trip in 1996.
In 2007, she attended her 50th high school reunion from Western High School in Maryland. She has been cherished by many for her kind, loving and caring nature.
Survivors include her husband, Warren E. Wilhide Sr., her son, Warren E. Jr. of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Laura Hultiquist of North Carolina, and Sue Stevens of West Milford, NJ; and two sisters Wanda Levey, and Ellin Dize, both of Baltimore, Md. She is also survived by her nine cherished grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2-4pm and 7-9pm Thursday at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham, NJ.
